A Wedding at Graeme Park: Lisa & Maurice

Lisa and Maurice were married at Graeme Park on a warm day at the end of June. Due to a glitch at their original venue, they had just a few weeks to reorganize everything and move the festivities here, but you would never know it by how beautifully they pulled everything off. 

After a quick ceremony by the pond, cocktails and hors oeuvres were served in the barn yard. The crowd is deceptively small-looking as many sought refuge in the air conditioned barn while they sipped and snacked.

Table settings in the Open Aire Affairs wedding tent were classic with blue and white linens, and centerpieces of hydrangeas, irises, daisies, and mumms.

On the dance floor, you may notice the guests are mostly all in white and neutral tones. But wait, isn't it against the rules to wear white to a wedding? Not if it is done at the bride's request ...

... because she wore a lovely shade of emerald green! The neutral colors on the guests allowed her to really stand out, and of course she can wear her dress again if she wants to for many anniversaries to come.

After a homey meal of ribs, pulled pork, mac and cheese, cornbread, and the like, it was time to cut the cake. Graeme Park board president Beth MacCausland was again responsible for this delectable beauty, which was a classic vanilla pound cake with vanilla butter cream frosting and decorated with blue and silver ribbons and hydrangea flowers.

A Wedding at Graeme Park: Gina & Steve

Gina and Steve were married at Graeme Park on a lovely evening in June. Guests were greeted with plenty of hand painted signage to let them know the layout and where to go.

The I-Dos were said with the pond as the backdrop 

and then guests headed off to the barn yard for wine and appetizers prepared by Duck Deli BBQ Restaurant of Doylestown.

After the cocktail hour, guests were greeted at the door of the Open Aire Affairs wedding tent with their escort cards and a beautiful purple, white and yellow color palette inside.

Centerpieces were simple mason jars with lemon slices and baby's breath, and tables were set with purple linens and square, white plates.

The wine bar made use of the same style galvanized pails that held flowers around the ceremony site and also featured a sangria.

Dinner, also by Duck Deli included BBQ, mac & cheese, potato salad, salad, and corn bread. The towering 5-tier wedding cake featured layers of lemon and chocolate chip cake covered in rustic buttercream frosting and accented with raffia and sunflowers. It was baked by Graeme Park's board president, Beth MacCausland, who has been creating special occasion cakes for many years (we can put you in touch with her if you happen to be in need of a cake - as chief taster, I can tell you they are delicious as well as beautiful).

So there would be no excuse not to dance, baskets of flip flops in all sizes were made available, and while I didn't have the camera on me later in the night, I can tell you this was a dancing crowd. I don't think I've seen the dance floor more packed.

A Wedding at Graeme Park: Brandy & Adam

Brandy and Adam had a perfect day in May to get married in front of the historic Keith House at Graeme Park. Natural looking boquets of flowers in mason jars lined the aisle, 

and the wedding party coordinated with the blue trim on the house. Mayor Norm Hawkes of Hatboro performed the ceremony.

After the ceremony, the wedding party led the way to the cocktail hour near the Open Aire Affairs reception tent. And yes, the couple's bulldog was a part of the wedding party.

The wedding was catered by Joey G's of Newtown, and the hors d'oeuvres included sliders, fried mozzarella, and fruit and cheese platters.

The wedding tent continued with the garden theme set up by the birdhouse at the entrance. The blue tables were dressed with burlap runners in a gardening theme, more casual flower arrangements, and a chicken wire fence held the escort cards.

The large "M" (the couple's last initial) served as the guest book with guests signing their well-wishes in gold Sharpie.

The cake was traditional with a silhouette topper made modern and fun by personalizing it with the groom fishing.

After enjoying their meal, guests danced and played lawn games as the sun went down.
